At The Yellow Bus Foundation, every journey begins with a single student—and the belief that with the right support, their path can be transformed.
When we first began, our focus was simple: one school in a priority neighbourhood in Toronto.
We listened closely, partnered deeply, and responded thoughtfully.
Over time, something powerful became clear. With the right resources placed directly in the hands of students and educators, barriers began to fall. Engagement grew. We learned that confidence returned to classrooms where it had once been fragile.
But as our impact deepened, so did our understanding.
Through insights such as the Toronto District School Board’s Learning Opportunities Index (LOI), we gained a clearer picture of inequity across the city.
The LOI is a research-based tool that identifies schools facing the greatest external challenges—factors like income, housing instability, and access to resources that significantly affect student success.
It reminded us that while the TDSB is one of the most highly funded public school systems in Canada, funding alone does not translate into direct, day-to-day support for the students who need it most.
And so, we evolved.
We committed to focusing our efforts where they are needed most—supporting the top-ranked schools on the LOI, where systemic barriers are most deeply felt. Today, we are proud to work alongside six of these schools, building meaningful, responsive partnerships with principals, vice-principals, and dedicated school staff who care profoundly about their students.
From these relationships, our newest initiative was born.
F.A.S.T. Track — Food, Access, Support & Technology
F.A.S.T. Track is more than a program. It is a promise: that every child deserves the foundational resources required to learn, grow, and thrive.
Each school we support through F.A.S.T. Track is paired with a dedicated member of our Board of Directors. Together with school leadership, we take the time to understand the unique challenges facing that community. No two schools are the same—and neither are our responses.
Sometimes, it begins with food. For many students, proper nutrition is the difference between distraction and focus, between absence and attendance.
Sometimes, it’s access. Access to enrichment opportunities, learning materials, or experiences that broaden horizons and ignite possibility.
Sometimes, it’s support. Mental health resources, community programming, or simply the presence of someone who believes in a student’s potential.
And increasingly, it’s technology. Tools that ensure students are not left behind in a world where digital access is essential to learning and future success.
This tailored approach is at the heart of F.A.S.T. Track. We don’t deliver one-size-fits-all solutions—we listen, we collaborate, and we act with purpose.
Beyond our direct support, we also connect schools with our network of trusted charitable partners—opening doors to additional programming, resources, and opportunities that further strengthen each school community.
Already, we are seeing the difference. Classrooms are more engaged. Educators feel supported. Students are showing up ready to learn, equipped with the essentials many of us take for granted.
And through it all, we are continually inspired by the educators we work alongside—leaders who go above and beyond every day, advocating fiercely for their students and creating environments of care, resilience, and hope.
As we look ahead, our goal is clear: to expand F.A.S.T. Track to reach more schools, more students, and more communities across Toronto.
But we cannot do it alone.
Your support helps us move faster. It helps us reach further. And most importantly, it helps ensure that every child—regardless of their postal code—has the opportunity to succeed.
Because when we invest in students, we change trajectories.
And sometimes, the right support at the right time makes all the difference.
